You Will Alway Find Me in the Kitchen at Parties

because I adore looking at other people's kitchens and fantasising about what I will do to mine someday.

Well, that day has come. No, I do not have enough cash to necessarily knock through the wall or add the extension or have the sexy granite counters. But by jove, I am having a new kitchen!!!!!

I am not waiting around any more for the kitchen dream. It may be Ike* fittings and a tad budget-conscious but it will be mine, all mine hahaha! I have waited 6 years to do this and I am going to be a madwoman unleashed.

Very nice! What renovations will you be doing? I hated doing my kitchen, but LOVE it now.

Oh, how exciting. Good luck with it. You'll have to post some before and after pics when you're done with it.

We just helped my mum do the kitchen at her cottage in northumberland - it came in under £7000 incuding all the appliances, so I know things can look good on a budget. We used the free design service at a local supplier to help us - that was really helpful as it made us see that the layout we wanted simply wasn't practical.

I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures!

I drool over those fabulous kitchens in design mags. We've be 'planning' our kitchen reno for 3 years and so far have done nothing so I will have to live vicariously through your experience!
Thanks for the trip advice. Husband has a conference coming up in Dublin & I'm thinking of tagging along.

How fun! I'm sure it will look great and more importantly, you'll love it since you designed it. And it's good that you're not getting EVERYTHING you've ever wanted in a kitchen now - what would you have to look forward to when you want to redo this kitchen in another 10 years!

How exciting! The kitchen was the very first project we tackled when we moved into our house and it involved knocking out walls and more debris and dust than I could even imagine. It was hard work (which the husband and I aren't really excited about) but when it was done I LOVED it. The planning stages are the most fun, so enjoy your dreaming and research! Keep us updated!

Pictures, pictures. We did a modest renovation of our kitchen a few years ago, still waiting to do the big one.

Good luck!

I love their kitchens - I thumb through their catalog dreaming of having my own kitchen to renovate. Enjoy!!
I can usually be found in the kitchen too but because that's usually where the wine is located!

That's IT?! No specifics? Kitchen reno talk is like porn to me. Give us the details, woman!

Millie, you and me!!! All remodeling kitchens! It's in the air.

Good luck with everything!

It truly is a dominoe effect, one thing leads to another and then another.

I hope you post pictures!

I'm getting ready to be bold and post some "before" shots which is pretty brave, seeing as how I am still living with it like this! It's easier to post the ugly shots after the remodel.

This will be fun!

I can't wait to hear all about it!

Ooh- definitely post pictures! Before I became a professional IFer and house remodler, I designed many a kitchen. Ikea cabs are NICE and are one of the great bargains out there. I think we're going to use them here when we finaly get the $$$ together. Get them to help you with the design- it's definitely worth it (said the designer).

I actually don't mind Ike* fittings-some of them look quite ok and you can build around the space you have quite well.

Isn't it FANTASTIC to have the kitchen you always wanted? Congratulations!

Alright! Come on woman, you can't just leave it like that. We need some before photos and links to what you are considering. I love the kitchen talk.

Kitchen=my favorite room in the house! Go for it changing things about. It sounds delightful. I wish I lived closer and I could come and help.

Sounds exciting! My kitchen is very tiny. We're not doing anything because we're looking for a new house with a bigger kitchen!

Have fun!

so jealous! We just paid for new bedroom furniture (very needed since the bed was his from his single years (must go!) and the dressers were leftover from my first marriage (also, must go!) Unfortunately, between that and the likely donor egg we'll be purchasing soon, any refurbishing will be further down the road.
